First full day of CES is almost over. I have made some rookie mistakes. Like not allowing enough time to get from one session to another. After hundreds of conferences, I’ve learned to allow 10 minutes between meetings and sessions. My show Canendly is set up like that. That doesn’t cut it at CES. The dam show is spread out over miles. I am not kidding. I knew that going in. I had tried to schedule sessions and meetings together but somehow, I still had to go between the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC, the main location for all the exhibits) and the Mandalay Bay (the main location for press conferences) twice. By the time I got back to the Excalibur (where I was staying), I had logged over 19,000 steps.
But counting steps is passe, I learned from a futurist presenting “CES Trends to Watch for in 2025.” Your wearable can do so much more, including diagnose you as bipolar. That was part of the “health tech” trend which also had something to do with Ozempic and weight loss. Another trend: age tech. That’s all the seniors who can now be targeted for tech products for all their ills. There’s also “beauty tech” which I caught only the tail end of due to the miles between the two venues, which included a tram ride, a monorail and 4 pedestrian bridges, made me a half hour late.
